While I'm not sold on these players being the exact right mix for the 4th line -certainly back the move away from the Rosebuds of the world

I'm certainly ready for the games to begin so we can see what this team can do.

Come on, Wednesday...

Excited too. Of course it's the first day in 4 months my wife needs me to get all the kids from their various locales after school so I will miss the 3rd live. It's cruel.

I'm guessing there's some sort of karmaic influence involved there.

B Hextall on the Phantoms instead of in the E? Thoughts?

Stortini, Hextall, Rosehill? That team needs less pentalty machines and more scoring IMHO.

Be great to have simmonds against boston. For the 4th line go Jones. I think that line is more likely to give up goals than score them against the B's so keep it buttoned up, work Akeson in later.

How bout Lavy with Nashville eh? Finally has that pronger 2.0 he so desperately needed here

I'm definately going to keeping an eye the Phantoms closer than ever this season. With prospects like Laughton, Leier, Gostisbehere, Hagg, Lauridsen, Stolarz and others, this is a true glimpse of future Flyers hopefuls and some almost a lock to be on the team in the future. Hopefully they broadcast a decent bit of games this season and I'll surely be attending a few games this year.

If figuring out who to sit or play on the 4th line is our biggest problem this year, I'll take it. So much more worried about this D that we have beaten to death and crucified over the last few weeks. I love this "Timmonen by committee" philosophy we keep hearing. What the hell does that mean anyway? Does anyone think Kimmo will be traveling with the team this year while re cooperating like he did this week ?

I haven't heard anything definitive about it but would think he will be with the team until he retires or health does not allow. I too am interested to see how the D plays out.

Between Raffl and Bellemare we brought in a lot of speed on the cheap the last two off-seasons. Good use of our limited cap space.

I haven't seen Bellemare play (other than highlights) yet but if he can be as good as Raffl was last year I'll be happy with him.

Brett Hextall had 83 PIMS last year in the AHL. Hardly a penalty machine.

Probably can cross Lauridsen off that list as a future Flyer.

I agree. I think he could be gone once his contract is up. You have other players that will be soon coming into the picture. Maybe Vasiliev comes over from Russia. You also have Wilcox that could soon be coming from Cornell too.

Hextall had 23 points and 83 PIM. He's a far cry from Stortini (9 points, 299 PIM) who should be a healthy scratch with Rosehill available.

I'm unsure why you think Brett Hextall would be in the E considering he spent the last three seasons in the AHL.

I have a feeling that if Simmonds is healthy for tomorrow night's game, that Blair Jones gets the start over Akeson

What happened to Matt Konan, isn't listed in LV or Reading, has he been jettisoned from the organization.

He's injured. Bill mentioned him a couple of days ago.

Rinaldo-Bellemare-Akeson was the 4th line for the last three preseason games.

Berube might decide that Tall Jon Sim gives them more size vs the Bruins than Akeson. I wouldn't be stunned if Jones played

Yeah, would be sad to have finally found something that works on the 4th-line only to abandon it right away.

I'm personally not worried about the 4th much... the Vinny/Umberger tandem on the other hand? I'm keeping a closer eye on that one.

I thought Akeson worked well in the couple games I saw with that 4th line.
I like Akeson more than Raffl. Akeson has shown flashes that he can finish.
